For more than 10 years, Joe supported first-response technology initiatives internationally. A few highights include:
2019 Led an emergency preparedness symposium for the Afghan government in the United Arab Emirates.
2015 Provided communications and logistical support for the Ebola crisis in West Africa.
2011 During the Somali Refugee crisis, managed a project to improve the connectivity in the Dadaab refugee camps. See a short video here.
2010, Went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake to re-connect NGO and UN agencies.
Joe's has camped on the Masai Mare, visited with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Green Belt Movement, Giraffe Centre and other conservation projects in Kenya, South Africa and Ghana. Overall, these experiences influenced Joe's decisions to purchase and use the farm for animal rescue, conservation and the next generation of organic farmers.
